Xilin Chinese North Shore Students Live on WFMT 98.7 FM Radio!
We congratulate the CFAS Young Artists Ensemble on being selected to perform on WFMT’s live radio program “Introductions,” their newest series that celebrates the Chicago region’s most talented pre-collegiate classical musicians. The live performance was held at WFMT’s Levin Performance Studio for one hour which started at 11AM on Saturday morning October 17th. Their performance was a great success. The show will be re-broadcasted on Thursday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.
The ensemble is comprised of several Music Festival in Honor of Confucius winners from past years. Four of the five members are from Xilin North Shore Chinese School. The group consists of James Stinehart, cello; Mimi Liu, piano; Ari Fisher, violin; Connie Gong, viola; and Shannon He. The ensemble has recently represented Chinese Fine Arts Society with live performances at the Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival and in the Chinatown summer concert series. Members of the ensemble, Mimi Liu and Ari Fisher have also performed at the TECO Chinese Cultural Center in Westmont (Click the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ8fTsgV3tA to watch their performance on Youtube). All of the members of the ensemble, which includes a 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grader, have received statewide honors in various music competitions. James Stinehart and Ari Fisher are the composers for the group and several of their compositions were featured on the WFMT program. Scheduled upcoming events for the Ensemble include a performance at the King Home Health Center in downtown Evanston in December and many others in the planning stages. In the future, the group hopes to continue to engage and delight the musical world, as well as to participate in fundraising events for the Chinese Fine Arts Society.
