作为社区的非盈利学校，我们一直感谢也依赖每一位家长的参与和支持。家长们为社区的服务作为言传身教直接影响到每一个孩子。

在我们学校，每位学生的家长每学期需要参加至少一次家长值班。 每段值班时间是学校上课中两个2小时20分钟的时间段之一。一个孩子值班一次，两个孩子值班两次，三个孩子值班三次，以此类推。值班日期和时间在注册时可以自选空档。没有选择的由学校指定，派人担任。如果在本学年没能参加家长值班的，学校将在下学年开学注册时按每缺一次30美元收取罚金。 在本校有参与学校教学和服务的家长减免值班。

值班家长应在当班之日按时到校。在学校办公处签到，并领取、佩戴值班牌，了解职责。值班家长完成其分配职责后，请回到办公处签出， 并同时送还值班牌和工具。值班家长迟到或早退十分钟以上，学校将收取10美元罚金；如果值班时没有尽责被校委会发现的需要重做。

值班家长负责学校走廊，楼梯，门厅的秩序。防止学生的跑，闹，追逐，喧哗，保证教学环境安静和良好的安全秩序。阻止学生在没有大人陪伴下离开教学区。 在离校前检查指定区域的教室、洗手间、走廊，保持其整洁。根据需要值班家长也可能协助学校举办的特别活动，以及帮助做其他校务工作。

值班家长如因故不能到校值班，可自行找其他家长替换。如无法找到替换家长，请尽早电邮学校PODadmin@xilinnschinese.org, 学校将帮助安排替换家长。如当天有急事无法前来，也请电邮或在学校微信群告知。如未通知学校而缺席的，需要在本学年补做或在下学年注册时支付罚款。 如果家长拒付罚款，学校保留取消学生注册的权利。

As a community-supported non-profit school, we always appreciate and rely on the support of every parent to maintain the school environment. Parents' action and service to the community has a direct impact on every child.

In our school, each student's parent helps at least one parent-on-duty (POD) shift every academic semester. Each shift is one of the two 2-hour and 20-minute periods during the school hour. Parent with one child registered is required to be on the duty once. Two children registered need their parents to be on duty twice. Three children registered need their parents to be on duty three times. It goes on like this. Parents can select from the available the duty date and time at the time of registration. For the parents who don’t choose, they will be assigned by the school to the unfilled slots. If parents fail to perform POD duty during the current school year, the school will put a fine of $30 for each absence and collect that during the registration for the next school year. Parents who serve teaching and administration role in the school are exempted from this additional parent-on-duty requirement.

Parents on duty should arrive at school on time on the day of duty. They will sign in at the designated school room, collect and wear their badge, and be familiar with their responsibilities. If the parent arrive late or leave early for more than ten minutes, a fine of $10 will be assessed. If a parent fail to do their part during the parent on duty will be given an opportunity to make up in a timeslot assigned by the school administration committee.

Parents-on-duty typically are responsible for maintaining the orders in the lobby, stairs, and hallways. The duty is to keep the school environment quiet and safe, and remind them from running and disturbing others in the hallways. Parents are also assigned to watch out students from leaving the school unless accompanied by an adult or keep their assigned area clean. Special assignment are also available during school events.

If a parent-on-duty cannot be at the school for their assigned time, they are responsible for finding a substitute to fill their timeslot. If a replacement cannot be found, the parent-on-duty must email the “Xilin NS POD administrator " at least 24 hours in advance. The school will help to arrange a replacement. If the parent-on-duty cannot make their assigned time due to an emergency on the same day, posting that in the WeChat group could often find immediately help. For parents who fail to inform the school in advance of their absence, a POD fine will be charged at $30/shift at registration for the next school year. If the parents failed to pay the fine, the school reserves the right to cancel the family’s registration.
